WORCESTER, MA --- Dan Sausville (6-3) couldn't quite complete his sixth frame, but tremendous bullpen work from both Sean Gregory and newcomer Brendan Malkowski helped him to his sixth victory of the season in Worcester's return to their home yard 7-3.
Worcester closer turned starter John Slusarz (2-4) dropped his fourth decision and third start in a row on Thursday night. After a couple scoreless innings to begin the contest Quebec's premier slugger Sebastien Boucher popped his ninth dinger of the season to the tune of three scores to put the Northerners out to a lead they would never relinquish. Robert Wagner went back to back to cap the scoring in the third. The Tornadoes answered back with a pair in the bottom half on Nick Salotti's two run double.
Mark Mimeault was the man of the evening for the Capitales. The backup catcher, getting the start at first base, was superb defensively and offensively. He began a pair of double plays for the visitors and busticated a pair of Worcester offerings for his first two home runs of 2010.
Left hander Zach Zuercher (0-2) will try to put the breaks on a two game skid for Worcester Friday night against Akron, OH native Andy Schon (2-0). Game time is at 7:05pm with fireworks immediately following the contest. |
