KELLY WINS LUCKY #7

AUGUSTA, NJ --- Pitching coach John Kelly (7-2) joined the top pitchers in the CanAm League with his seventh victory over five innings Monday night as the Tornadoes pulled back to even in the second half with the 5-1 win.

The newly crowned CanAm Batter of the Week Danny Santiesteban celebrated his new title in the top of the second with his eighth home run of the season (tied for the team lead, Chris Colabello) off of Sussex hurler Jeff Icenogle (4-3). Mark Minicozzi and Stantrel Smith singled before him to make it of the three run variety. Icenogle would surrender another in the top of the third on an RBI double off the bat of Nick Salotti for four earned total in the loss.

Kelly was followed by a dazzling performance Shawn Gilblair. The lefty inherited runners on first and third with none out and responded by getting a 1-3 double play on a line drive off the bat of Chase Fontaine followed by a looking K of Vince Blue. Gilblair recorded nine outs on this night, his longest appearance of the season. Rick Asadoorian pitched a perfect ninth, but did not get the save after Omar Pena's safety squeeze plated the Tornadoes fifth run.

Going for the win in the sandwich game is RHP Justin Knoff (1-0) who has his lone win at Century Link Field. He will be opposed by tall right hander Dan Berlind (2-3) at 7:05pm with coverage on AM 830 WCRN at 7pm.
