WORCESTER, MA --- Chris Farley (4-2) has clearly sharpened into mid-season form in his seventh start this year for the Tornadoes. The veteran right hander chucked 120 pitches, 81 of them for strikes, and sat down nine Colonials on his way to a 7-2 win.
Almost overshadowed by the outstanding Farley outing was the work of recently acquired and activated outfielder Stantrel Smith. Coming over from Fort Worth in the American Association and added to the roster after the injury to Matt McDonald forced him into a DL vacation, Smith struck out in his first at bat. Then the fireworks began. Stantrel used his bat and legs to notch the second Tornadoes triple of the year and encored with two doubles for a 3-4 night with 3 RBI's. Not a bad debut.
Mark Minicozzi also turned in a three hit game with a pair of RBI's for the orange and black against left hander David Qualben (1-4) who dropped his fourth decision of the year with five and a third innings of work and three strike outs. Following him out of the pen was the Worcester, MA native Corey Shepherd and Chris Rollins.
